MORNINGSIDE, EDINBURGH
The brief for this typical Morningside back garden was, as the children were now grown up,
to convert from utility to amenity use. A diagonal path pivots the layout linking a sunny
seating area by the house with a bench and bicycle shed at the rear of the garden.
The path, moving across the site at 45 degrees and then back to the other side feeding into the
strong flowing curves of the lawn and water feature generate a feeling of space and movement
detracting from the static rectangular shape.
